EGYPTAIR Cargo, the freight arm of Egypt's national airline, has started direct cargo service from its European hub at Cologne Bonn Airport in Germany to Johannesburg, South Africa on March 4. A second rotation is scheduled to operate on Thursdays, starting from April.
The hub at Cologne Bonn Airport will offer connections to the three new freighter destinations of Lagos, N'Djamena and Khartoum, and more destinations are planned to follow later this year, Mumbai's Stat Trade Times reported.
'The further increase of the Egyptair Cargo freighter operation at Cologne Bonn Airport with additional flights and African destinations underline the great potential our airport has to offer,' said Cologne Bonn Airport CEO Johan Vanneste.
Egyptair Cargo CEO Captain Bassem added: 'As an African airline, we felt it was the right time to take part in the African renaissance. We see these new rotations as a major step to enhance our African network.'
