Drewry's Asia-Europe rate fell 5pc to US$767/FEU, transpac up 1pc
DREWRY's World Container Index spot rate for Shanghai to Rotterdam fell five per cent to US$767 per FEU while the Hong Kong-Los Angeles rate increased one per cent to $1,432 per FEU but still tracking some 23.6 per cent below last year.
Europe's annual peak season failed to materialise this summer, according to one leading analyst Hackett Associates' Ben Hackett. He said the only bright sign was the transpacific trade, where the US economy is growing nicely and trade volumes are also up.
