Drewry: Carrier reliability falls to 70pc from 72pc in second quarter
CONTAINER service reliability decreased in second quarter of 2013 with an on-time average of 70.5 per cent down from 72.8 per cent across all the trades covered by the latest Drewry's Carrier Performance Insight report.
It was the second consecutive quarter to decline despite improvements on east-west trade reliability and even in the face of the 40-day dock strike in Hong Kong during April and May. During this time, on time container loading decreased by two per cent to 70 per cent.
According to Drewry research manager Simon Heaney failure of the strike to have more impact was because most carriers diverted from Hong Kong to nearby ports.
