EMIRATES Global Aluminium has signed an agreement with DP World that will enable EGA to lease a dedicated storage area covering 175,000 square metres - the largest the company has ever used - at Jebel Ali port in Dubai.
The site will offer EGA storage capacity for 60,000 tonnes of aluminium and up to 1,200 TEU of containers, facilitating export flows through the port, reported Dubai's Maritime Standard.
Said EGA chief executive Abdulla Kalban: 'Proximity to the UAE's efficient ports is one of our global competitive advantages. We are both champions of economic diversification in the UAE and that makes our work together important for our nation.'
Jebel Ali port handled 7.7 million TEU in the first half of the year on par with the same period in 2017 in spite of political and economic challenges in the region, said the report.
