After 18 hours of underwater inspection of the 'Avior' which capsized off Mahim bay, divers were able to locate the puncture at the base of the ship in the afternoon. of May 31. The Singapore-based SMIT salvage, which the owners hired to salvage the ship, have finalised the technique they will use to bring back the sunken ship to the harbour. Divers located the puncture and have told the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) what their plan of action will be. The ship will be out of the harbour in the next three days. They found a small dent, with a cut in the middle, of the ship at its base and have put pumps in place. They will now weld the surface over the cut and then pump out the water from the ship. It will then be towed to the harbour. The divers have been inspecting the ship since May 29 and were able to approach it on May 30. The task was delayed owing to choppy sea and strong currents.
