The 'Nifikor Begichev' which sailed from Ust-Luga on Dec 30, 2017, destined for China, in the night Jan 3, 2018,ran into a storm and experienced troubles with bulk cargo on deck. The ship was drifting for some time, and on 5 a.m. on Jan 3 turned back. The extent of damages sustained was unknown. She returned to Ust-Luga anchorage on Jan 9. The cargo included in the first shipment of the S-400 air defense missile systems, which was sent to China under the 2014 contract, which has been damaged by the storm and was returned to Russia.
