GERMAN state-owned logistics giant DB Schenker has resumed land shipments to the UK after a temporary suspension over Brexit red tape, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
'By making the hard decision to suspend shipment collections for a short period, we were able to protect our network from potential tailbacks affecting transshipment platforms,?? said Schenker's European overland chief Cyrille Bonjean.
'Resuming the service is made possible by working together closely with our commercial and industry partners on gathering end to end contact and customs information, which are essential for customs clearance,' he said.
The company informed customers that shipments to the UK will only be accepted if the necessary minimum exporter and importer documents have been received.
The company will provide the guidelines for the needed documents, as European companies and their UK customers can find all of the necessary information on DB Schenker's website. Customers can also call company representatives.
DB Schenker encourages its EU customers to advise their UK importers to fully engage in the necessary import processes to help the clearance of their consignments.
The temporary suspension became necessary after the company identified problems relating to the market awareness and readiness of the full customs complexities since Brexit.
