LOGISTICS firm Dachser USA has expanded its midwestern footprint, opening a new location in Detroit as it targets the automotive industry with the 'Big Three' auto manufacturers headquartered there. The new location is Dachser's fifth office in the region.
The forwarder said the new office will enable the company to work with another sizeable US airport that services a large number of international flights.
'This expansion will further meet the demand of Dachser's customers as the company becomes even more integrated into the automotive industry.'
'After recently expanding the Cincinnati and Minneapolis offices, Detroit was the next logical step for our Midwest expansion,' said president and chief executive of Dachser USA Air & Sea Logistics Inc, Frank Guenzerodt.
'As a service provider, being close to our customers is vital. Therefore, we will continue to focus our efforts on expanding our physical footprint in the US, as well as finding innovative ways to meet customers' needs best.'
Besides its focus on the European and Asian trade lanes, Dachser USA said it is also expanding business to and from Latin America, London's Air Cargo News reported.
'We are consistently searching for ways to improve our intelligent combination of logistics network competencies to achieve the best possible connection between our markets. This expansion into Detroit will further our ability to serve the growing demands presented by the automotive industry,' said Mr Guenzerodt.
