UKRAINIAN seaport container traffic increased 8.8 per cent from January to September year on year, reports St Petersburg SeaNews.
In comparison, the Russian Port of Novorossiysk handled 562.9 thousand TEU at the same time, showing a growth of 1.8 per cent. Meanwhile, export container traffic through Ukrainian seaports made 363.7 thousand TEU, up 7.3 per cent.
Imports increased 8.2 per cent to 376.6 thousand TEU with transit container traffic through the major Ukrainian ports grew by 35.9 per cent up to 35.8 thousand TEU.
Meanwhile, the Port of Odessa handled 480.1 thousand TEU, up 1.9 per cent compared to last year. Container traffic through the Port of Pivdenniy increased by 25.3 per cent for 181.7 thousand TEU.
The Port of Chernomorsk handled 113.8 thousand TEU, which is up 16.7 per cent. The Olvia Specialised Sea Port handled 420 TEU, which is up 4.7 fold.
