THE Philippine's Batangas Container Terminal (BCT) saw a 762 per cent year-on-year increase to 98,000 TEU, but was still behind Asian Terminals Inc's (ATI) 2014 total of 1.02 million TEU, an increase of 8.6 per cent.
At Manila South Harbour, ATI boosted the number of rubber-tyre gantry cranes to 23, adding five more RTGs by the second quarter, marking a 50 per cent fleet expansion since 2012. It is also increased its side-loader fleet by 50 per cent, through the deployment of six more cranes in February.
Other plans at ATI involve the roll-out its vehicle booking system (VBS) this year, an automated system that will allow trucks controlled 24-hour access to the ports to alleviate heavy traffic on roads, reported Rotterdam's World Maritime News.
