THE world's biggest container maker, Shenzhen's China International Marine Containers (CIMC) and Denmark's software engineers Globe Tracker (GTI) have joined to make track and traceable "smart containers".
Hong Kong-listed CIMC will become an original equipment manufacturer of Globe Tracker's monitoring and remote asset tracking gear and will sell it under its own brand.
News came of this with the announcement that CIMC Internet of Mobile Things International Operation and Service Co Ltd (CIMC IOMT) and Globe Tracker International had signed a strategic partnership.
"Integration of tracking into the container equipment at the production level stand to reduce installation costs and facilitate adoption of the technology," said the joint press statement.
"These CIMC products will primarily be for dry bulk and refrigerated containers, but will also included in tanker containers, trucks, truck trailers, railway cars and other products that benefit from global tracking, monitoring and remote asset management," said the press statement.
