In the morning of Dec 22, 2010, the "Sea Ace" ran aground in heavy seas off Japan's Fukushima Prefecture, 3 nm south-west of Onahama, northeast of Tokyo. The ship was underway from Ishinomaki to Kimitsu, ETA Dec 23. The 15 crew members, among them 11 Chinese, were not injured. The ship got stuck about five kilometers southwest of the Onahama port. It did not leak oil but was in need of salvage assistance. The local Coast guard was put on alert.
