CHINA's President Xi Jinping has called on Starbucks to improve the China-US relationship, reports Bloomberg News.
'I hope Starbucks will make active efforts to promote China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation and the development of bilateral relations,' said Mr Xi.
President Xi made the remarks replying to a letter from Starbucks chairman Emeritus Howard Schultz.
'China has embarked on a new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country, which will provide a broader space for companies from all over the world, including Starbucks and other American companies, to develop in China,' said Mr Xi.
Chinese leaders have tried to use ties with US business leaders to improve relations while stressing commerce as a stabiliser in bilateral relations.
The China-US relationship has worsened during the Trump presidency, causing a significant challenge for Joe Biden.
