China will impose anti-dumping duties of up to 78.2 per cent on US-made fibre optic products, escalating trade tensions.
China's Ministry of Commerce said it will levy tariffs of up to 78.2 per cent on certain US fibre optic imports starting September 4, targeting G.654.C fibre used in long-haul and undersea networks, reported Caixin.
Corning Inc will face a 37.9 per cent duty, OFS Fitel LLC 33.3 per cent, and Draka Communications Americas Inc 78.2 per cent. All other US exporters will be taxed at the maximum rate.
The ministry said the move aims to prevent circumvention of existing duties and complies with WTO rules. It is China's first anti-circumvention probe since draft rules were introduced in July.
