China Cosco to order ten 19,000-TEUers for US$1.4 billion in total: WSJ
CHINA Cosco Holdings is planning to order at least ten 19,000-TEUers as the shipping giant seeks to dominate major ocean trade routes, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Citing unnamed sources, the Wall Street Journal said the vessels will be ordered from a Chinese yard and cost US$1.4 billion in total.
When fully loaded, the report said, the mega ships can cut the cost of moving a container across the oceans 25 per cent in an industry that carries about 95 per cent of the world's manufactured goods.
