CAROTRANS, a global non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and ocean freight consolidator, says it has adopted CargoSmart's advanced filing rules (AFR) management solution to comply with the regulation introduced in Japan on March 10, with no grace period.
NVOCCs and ocean carriers are required to electronically submit filings for all Japan-bound ocean cargo or receive substantial penalties for not filing. The move is designed to ensure the safety and security of global trade.
"Well before the approaching deadline, CaroTrans successfully modified its proprietary system and had its team trained and ready to accommodate the new regulation," a company release said.
Along with EDI and online functionality, the solution offers dashboard monitoring to provide the NVOCC with the visibility of their filings and status, and helps avoid the risk of missing filings.
The solution also allows for timely notifications to customers and the effective management of this process to boost operational efficiency.
Director of CargoSmart North America, Kim Le said, "CargoSmart's solutions connect CaroTrans' network of offices and agents to interact and ensure shipments globally are in compliance."
