BRITISH Prime Minister David Cameron praised Hong Kong's Hutchison group for what it had built near in the once obscure seaside Suffolk village of Felixstowe as he toured Britain's biggest container port of the same name.
"The extraordinary scale of the trade is fundamental to the success of the whole country," he told his hosts. "Put simply, you are increasing Britain's footprint in the world."
Mr Cameron saw the 14,074-TEU CSCL Saturn, being worked at the port's Berths 8&9. He also saw the extension being built to these berths that will accommodate even larger ships.
Said Hutchison Ports (UK) chief executive Clemence Cheng: "We were able to show the Prime Minister how the continued investments we are making at Felixstowe are helping support UK economic growth and create jobs."
