Brazilian pork exports to the Philippines are expected to exceed 300,000 tonnes in 2025, driven by rising local demand, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (Abpa).
Abpa President Ricardo Santin said shipments could grow 18 per cent from the 254,331 tonnes sent in 2024. He described the trade relationship as mutually beneficial and noted Brazil's capacity to scale up supply.
Chicken exports are projected to remain stable at 240,000 to 270,000 tonnes, up to 13.7 per cent higher than last year's 237,400 MT. brazil is the Philippines' top meat supplier, accounting for over 43 per cent of imports as of April.
The Philippine government's recognition of Brazil's sanitary inspection system and adoption of a prelisting process in 2024 have streamlined meat trade. Accredited Brazilian firms no longer require individual evaluation by Philippine authorities.
Since 2000, Brazil has exported more than 1.4 million tonnes of chicken and 700,000 tonnes of pork to the Philippines. The country is now the leading destination for South American pork and ranks seventh for poultry imports.
A regionalisation agreement between Manila and Brasilia is expected to be signed soon. It will allow import bans to apply only to affected zones during disease outbreaks, rather than the entire country
