The 'Kanga', which had been delivered to her owner only in summer 2018 and expected to become a star at the September Monaco and Cannes boat show, caught fire in the morning of Sep 6, 2018, at 8.22 a.m. while being anchored off Dubrovnik in the Adriatic Sea between the small island of Olipa and the Peljesac Peninsula. All 13 people on board, nine passengers and four crew members, were evacuated and were safe. Firefighters finally gained control of the fire. There were about 40 tonnes of diesel in the yacht’s tanks, and the local maritime authorities have ordered an eco-vessel to attend the scene and minimise any damage. The wreck was towed to Prapanto port, near Dubrovnik. The superstructure was destroyed by the fire, the hull heavily damaged. The cause of the fire was yet unknown but it was suspected that an electrical fault was to blame. Report with photos and video: https://www.thedubrovnikt... https://www.youtube.com/w...
