Biggest in Burma: Singapore's Far Shipping adds Colombo-Yangon loop
SINGAPORE's regional carrier Far Shipping has launched a new weekly service connecting Colombo and Yangon, wayporting also in northeast and eastern Indian ports, reports Alphaliner.
The service, which turns in two weeks anddeploys two 2,174-TEU sister ships, the Hyundai Advance and the Hyundai Progress, call at Colombo, Yangon, Haldia, Visakhapatnam and back to Colombo.
The ships, the largest containerships servicing Myanmar, are sublet charter from Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM).
Maersk Line and MCC Transport take slots on this loop, between Colombo and Visakhapatnam.
The new service was launched after Sri Lankan container operator Herbilan Shipping ceased its Colombo-Myanmar service, which was to be replaced by an enhanced+ two-loop system that did not take off.
