Betty Tung names 13,000-TEU OOCL Bangkok set for Asia-Europe route
BETTY TUNG, the wife of the vice chairman of China's National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and former Chief Executive of Hong Kong Tung Chee-hwa, did the honours at the naming of the OOCL Bangkok, a 13,208-TEU newbuilding that now joins the company's fleet.
Mrs Tung delivered an encomium to bless the mega vessel at a ceremony at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Busan, South Korea.

Mr Tung stressed that the company's investments in 13,000-TEU vessels will be an important part in improving its competitive edge as the new generation of ships are designed and built with better efficiency in mind.
The OOCL Bangkok will be serving the Asia-Europe trade on the Loop 5 service where her port rotation is Kwangyang, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Yantian, Shenzhen-Shekou, Singapore, via the Suez Canal to Rotterdam, Hamburg, Southampton, via the Suez Canal to Singapore and back to Kwangyang in a 77-day round trip
