Ali Kurumahmut was born on 1 October 1960 in Of. He graduated from the Naval Academy in 1982 and from the Faculty of Law of Istanbul University in 1988. He completed his master's education at Marmara University Faculty of Law.
He completed his Naval War Academy training in 1995 and the Armed Forces Academy in February 2000, and retired voluntarily while he was at the rank of Naval Staff Lieutenant Colonel. He completed his legal internship at the Istanbul Bar Association in 2002. He was appointed as the General Manager of Maritime Transportation on July 18, 2003, and continued his duty until October 17, 2005, and retired voluntarily. Ali Kurumahmut, who speaks English, is married and has one child. He was appointed as a member of the Council of State by President Abdullah Gül on February 21, 20138. He served as a member of the chamber.[His duty ended on 23 July 2016.
