On June 12, 2018, a truck driving off the 'Governor'struck and damaged cables at the port, causing delays. Just as repairs to the cables were wrapping up, that same ferry suffered a mechanical breakdown, leading to trip cancellations. The mishap with the truck happened when the 'Governor' was unloading at one of the two docks in Woods Hole, after arriving there around 7:15 a.m. The damaged cables, which support the loading bridge that carries vehicles to and from the boat, caused the ferry to leave 45 minutes late for its next scheduled trip, the alerts said. That left the authority with only one available spot for ferries to dock in Woods Hole, causing delays for other trips. Around 10:30 a.m., the cables had been repaired, signaling that the ferry would soon return to service and the docking spot would reopen. Around the same time, the suo suffered a mechanical issue. A “low fuel pressure alarm” went off. Around 12:30 p.m. that crews were replacing the ship’s fuel pump. Until that was fixed, the 'Governor' remained sidelined in Woods Hole. Ferries docking in Woods Hole were able to use only one slip, which resulted in the arrivals and departures to and from Woods Hole being delayed from their published schedule. The Steamship Authority deployed another ferrym the 'Martha’s Vineyard', though officials noted that the fill-in vessel was running behind schedule. Last month, a tractor-trailer got stuck when driving off the 'Martha’s Vineyard' at Woods Hole, prompting delays. The authority’s Woods Hole location was in the midst of a major overhaul to rebuild the terminal there and to add a third slip.
