AIR India has received Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification, positioning itself to tap into India's expanding pharmaceutical export market, reports London's air Cargo News.
The airline announced that it is the first in India-and among a select few in Asia-to attain the certification, which sets standards for the proper handling, storage, and transportation of time- and temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products.
GDP is a European benchmark that outlines the minimum requirements for wholesale distributors to ensure the quality and integrity of medicines throughout the supply chain.
Air India earned the certification following a comprehensive audit covering areas such as pharmaceutical quality manuals, temperature-controlled storage and equipment, change control and documentation systems, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), hygiene protocols, safety, environmental standards, and risk and deviation management practices.
'The GDP certification validates Air India's compliance with international guidelines for the safe and secure distribution of pharmaceuticals,' said the airline.
