The new cranes will support the nine ship to shore cranes already operational at the terminal that has just passed its five million-TEU milestone since its establishment in 2012.
The new cranes are capable of handling mega containerships and will add 600,00 TEU of capacity per annum to complete Phase one's 2.5 million TEU capacity, reported Hellenic Shipping News.
One of the cranes stands 126.5 metres high, weighs 1,932 tons, has an outreach of 65 metres, covering 26 rows, and a lifting capacity of 90 tons.
"Our customers demand the fastest possible turnarounds with the and highest levels of operational performance and safety," said CEO of Abu Dhabi Terminal, Martijn Van De Linde. "At ADT, we are consistently investing in the most cutting-edge equipment to meet and exceed their needs."
