Abidjan clears suspect Ebola ships offshore before allowing them in port
IVORY COAST authorities have decreed that vessels arriving from ports in Ebola-affected countries, namely Guinea, Conakry, Liberia, Siera Leone and Nigeria will not be admitted to port until inspected at anchor out to sea, reports GAC Hot Port News.
Ship inspections cost XOF200,000 (US$393) and will be on the vessel's account. The port authorities said they would proceed with the inspection and then bill shipowners, said the report.
Abidjan port authorities have decided that all vessels arriving from these ports will be inspected on the roads by port health authorities prior being cleared to enter.
