A 434-TEU Dutch freighter, Francisca, lost 33 containers overboard in the North Sea on October 31, after turning back for shelter from a storm, reports Kiev's Maritime Bulletin, which specialises in marine casualties.
The incident occurred after the ship was enroute from Iceland to Rotterdam. The ship was forced to turn around and passed Pentland Firth while sailing northwest to shelter and wait out stormy weather.
Francisca was built in 1997 and is managed by Longship BV, of Groningen, Netherlands.
