Project "Taiwanese vehicles travelling to Fujian" has begun with two trucks travelling from Taiwan on the passenger ship Lina.
It obtained temporary licence and road freight permit to deliver goods to Pingtan. This is the first time ever Taiwanese trucks enter Fujian and unload goods, marking a breakthrough in trucking diplomacy.
Once the ship departed from Taipei Port, relevant departments executed timely follow-up including temporary licence and road freight permit application.
"When the ship arrived only one inspection was required. Efficiency was higher and cost was lower," said Hua Gang Logistics general manager Chen Xiangquan.
Mr Chen said the Taiwanese trucks carried 20-foot containers which were loaded with Taiwanese duty-free goods.
Wang Jinzu, deputy director of the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimentation Area Management Committee, said: "Trucks travelling directly from Taiwan to China marks a breakthrough in China-Taiwan logistics cooperation."
Within the terms of the project, Taiwanese vehicles arriving in Pingtan can apply for temporary licence which allows free access to Pingtan for a specified period.
