One year after the grounding of the 'Kea Trader', and while the wreckage removal strategy remained uncertain, the activity of the Shanghai Salvage Company (SSC) focused on the removal of submerged debris from the wreck of the container ship in July. Until July 31 more than 11 tons of metal debris have been removed from the reef by means of divers and buoys, allowing towing the debris around the reef to deposit them on the deck of salvage ships . Favourable weather conditions have allowed to validate this methodology for debris up to 4,5 tonnes. A first shipment of this debris was unloaded in Nouméa from the 'De Jing' of the SSC, for recycling by local companies. French report with photos: https://www.lnc.nc/breve/...
