11,388-TEU CMA CGM Andromeda to make first boxship call on Iran
THE 11,388-TEU CMA CGM Andromeda expects to be the first containership to dock in Iran when sanctions are lifted in August, reports Maritime News of Varna Bulgaria.
The call will be made at Shahid Rajaee Port (aka Bandar Abbas) on the Asia-Europe loop, after which the port is to be added to its permanent rotation.
It is also expected that Maersk and MSC ships will also call at Iranian ports and add them to their Asia-Europe routes.
The Shahid Rajaee Port is the country's most modern container terminal with 18 gantry cranes on the Strait of Hormuz. It covers 2,400 hectares and has an annual capacity of three million TEU.
