THE Port of Long Beach unanimously voted to grant permission for Toyota Logistics Services to re-build a ro-ro facility at Pier B.
Nearly all of the terminal's existing facilities on 223,000 square feet would be demolished to make way for the new elements and terminal makeover, reported the Long Beach Daily Breeze.
The renewable energy power plant would power the private terminal that imports Toyota vehicles at the port and be designed to reduce air pollution.
The project would reconfigure the facility to streamline operations and reduce onsite vehicle movement and enhance safety.
Harbour Commission eco chief Heather Tomley said 'fugitive dust' was among the potential impacts but studies determined that could be mitigated with increased watering on the premises.
