On Apr 29, 2017, at 4.20 p.m. a fire broke out following an explosion in the engine room of the "Serdar II" while she was moored alongside the Turkish LPG tanker "Habaş", in the Gulf of İzmit for a transfer of staff from the tanker to shore. Three people on board of the supply boat were injured and saved themselves by jumoing into the sea. On the whole nine personas were rescued. Tugs were cooling tanker’s hull with water half a mile from the Tupras Refinery to keep the fire from spreading. The tanker had just unloaded its cargo at the Tütünçiftlik platform in the İzmit Bay. The tanker was moved away and the fire put out.
