RCL of Thailand
THAILAND's Regional Container Lines (RCL) experienced another tough three months of trading in the period to June 30, posting a loss of THB478 million (US$16 million).
The company blamed it on deteriorating freight rates, high fuel costs and new capacity outpacing demand growth.
Nevertheless, the intra-Asia box carrier improved on the loss incurred in the first quarter of this year when it racked up deficit of THB714 million, reported London's Containerisation International said.
RCL's numbers were down three per cent year on year to 620,262 TEU during the quarter, but throughput was still ahead by two per cent over the first quarter of the year.
