04 December 2017 - 22:00 - Update: 05 December 2017 - 00:44

The "Qi Cheng Xian Feng" ran onto a breakwater in the Yangtze estuary in the morning of Dec 4, 2017, and suffered hull breaches and water ingress. The tanker's stern sank with the bow still prptruding from the water. The SAR ship "Dong hai Jiu 102" (IMO: 9774082) rescued all nine crew members who were pulled from the wreck with a rope. Prior to abandoning ship, they had managed to seal all valves, pipes and cargo tanks to avoid an oil spill.
