The tanker "Roma" was dirifting down the Rhine, as having trouble with the engines. The ship drifted slowly towards the Central Bridge. The captain managed with toil and hardship, his ship using the bow thruster under the bridge to navigate through, such as the Basel police spokesman Klaus Mannhart told baz.ch. It rammed the ship's bridge at the site since they were high enough. During the collision the wheelhouse of the "Roma" was pressed.Fortunately nobody was injured.
After passing the bridge, Roma dropped her anchor.. With the effect of anchor dropped, the ship was turned around 180 degrees. The ship is currently drifting and moored at the level of the barracks, and will now be towed to the Basel Rhine Port.
The middle bridge suffered no damage during the collision. "There are already some ships slammed against the bridge," Mann said Hart. "The holding of that."
