In Çanakkale Strait, oil product tanker M/T KRITI SEA, 183 meters long, 28.553 GT, of Greek flagged tankerwent aground.According to the information obtained, the tanker named "Kriti Sea" with Greek flag, 183 meters long and 28,553 gross tons, on the way from Malta to Batumi Port in Georgia, while passing through Çanakkale Strait (Dardanelles), had an engine trouble for unspecified reason. The malfunctioning ship went aground afterwards. Later, the ship's captain reported the accident to the Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services but he did not ask for assistance. Due to safety of the region, tugboat "Kurtarma-4" and fast rescue boat "Kıyı Emniyeti-9" belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety arrived at the accident site. It was stated that the rescue work would be done by the own possibilities of the ship.
