Shin Kurushima Dockyard uses SmartMarine 3D solution for ship design
SHIN Kurushima Dockyard Company Limited (SKDY), on Shikoku, Japan's smallest island province, has moved Intergraph's shipbuilding and offshore design solution SmartMarine 3D into the full production phase for its ship projects, including early, detail and manufacturing design, as well as fabrication planning.
SKDY had decided to standardise on SmartMarine 3D solution, which has out-of-the-box content and functionality to support ship production. SKDY has successfully incorporated its specific requirements into SmartMarine 3D, which are fully automated across its production processes.
With support from Intergraph, SKDY is implementing SmartMarine 3D for the production stage, using its own built-in, automated rules. The company will use SmartMarine3D for all ship production, starting with its flagship shipyard, Onishi, and then expanding to all its other shipyards, namely, HashiHama, Kochi, Toyohashi and HigashiHiroshima.
Said SKDY general manager Isshin Fuji" "SmartMarine 3D's rule-based, automated technology fits with our sophisticated design. As we continue to customise SmartMarine 3D and build our technical strength, the Intergraph's advanced capabilities and workshare feature enables us to share our technical expertise and know-how with the newer generation of engineers."
Said Intergraph's power and marine chief Gerhard Sallinger: "SmartMarine 3D will deliver enhanced safety, quality and productivity for SKDY's global ship projects."
SmartMarine 3D is data-centric, knowledge- and rule-driven for streamlining marine asset design processes and improving delivery schedules, with increased detail and manufacturing design productivity of up to 30 per cent.
