(January 23, 9:50 p.m. EST) -- Two Carnival ships' itineraries have been cut short due to severe weather that rolled through the Gulf Coast Sunday into Monday. Carnival Valor and Carnival Fantasy, which both had five-night cruises scheduled to depart January 23 from Galveston and Mobile, respectively, will instead leave tomorrow and sail only four nights. Carnival Valor is expected to arrive in Galveston at 10 p.m. tonight. Meanwhile, Carnival Fantasy will dock in Mobile at 11 a.m. Tuesday, weather permitting. Both ships were delayed due to a severe weather system that brought strong winds and currents, as well as heavy fog, to the region. "Guests who choose to sail on the modified itinerary will receive a one day pro-rated refund of their cruise fare. Guests also have the option of canceling without penalty and receiving a full refund," the line said in a statement, regarding both affected ships. As a result of the shortened itineraries, Carnival Valor will visit only Cozumel, and Carnival Fantasy will call at Progreso.
