The US Coast Guard assisted the 'Lucille' in the New York Harbor and on the East River in the afternoon of July 21, 2018. At approximately 4:00 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York command center vessel traffic service were notified by the captain of Empire Cruises vessel that it was disabled in the vicinity of Liberty Island with 41 people aboard. The command center launched two 45-foot Response Boat–Medium boatcrews from Coast Guard Station New York. A safety broadcast was also issued to all commercial and recreational traffic in the harbor informing all mariners to transit the area with caution. The boatcrews from Station New York arrived on scene at approximately 4:20 p.m., and Lucille was able to restore power after the Coast Guard and partner agencies FDNY and NYPD arrived on scene. The Coast Guard and partner agencies escorted the vessel up the East River to Skyport Marina where it moored around 6:00 p.m., and all passengers safely disembarked the vessel.
