Röportaj-Interview
sürdürmüşlerdir. Sayın Salih Zeki Çakır
ve ekibi tüm deniz endüstirisi ve mev-
cut yönetime çok olumlu bir farkındalık
yaratmıştır. Mevcut yönetime çok büyük
bir iyilik yapıp aristokrasiye evrilmel-
erine engel olmuştur. Bu sebeple daha
katılımcı, daha paylaşımcı, daha üretken
ve üyelerine daha ahde vefası olan bir
yönetim olacığına inancım tamdır.
Bu seçimin Türkiye’nin tüm
kurumlarına örnek olacak kazanımı ise;
kamplaşmayı değil hizmet yarışını, ülke
menfaatlerine olan duyarlılığı, heyecanı
ve şevki göstermesi açısından çok önem-
lidir.
Bu ruhu bize yaşatan mevcut yönetime
ve değişim grubuna şükranlarımı sunarım
SeaNews: Peki sizce piyasalar nereye
gidiyor?
Kapt. Bülent Dandin:
‘’Arz-talep ve
jeopolitik güç dengeleri” denklemidir
piyasalar, yani birinci derceden üç bil-
inmeyenli bir denklem. X+Y+Z=0 gibi
bir durum, sadece X bilen diğer ikisini
tahmin eder, X ve Y yani iki bilinmeyeni
bilen, doğru kararı verdiğini sanır. Oysa
Z’siz olmaz bu işler!
Benim denklemim de biraz ateist
fıkrası gibi oldu .
Papaz vaazda Hz. İsa’yı tanımlarken
şöyle buyurur;
“Ne göktedir
Ne yerdedir
Ne sağda
Ne de soldadır... derken, ateist day-
anamaz “Papaz efendi, papaz efendi, yok
diyeceksin de dilin varmıyor’’ der.
Benim ki de bu misal, açıkçası bilmi-
yorum, “Yaa Sabır” deyip büyüklerimizin
dediği gibi ‘’durmak yok, yola devam
‘’ (!)
SeaNews: Bülent Bey, bize zaman
ayırdığınız için çok teşekkür ederiz.
Son olarak eklemek istedikleriniz var
mı?
Kapt. Bülent Dandin:
Son olarak şunu
söylemek isterim: Epizodik belleğe sahip
köklü aile şirketi biçimdeki armatör-
lük yapılar yeni gemileri ile bu süreci
atlatırlar, aynı şeyi spekülatif amaç ile bu
sektöre girmiş yatırımcı armatörler için
de keşke söyleyebilseydim. Sanırım ilk
fırsatta sektörden çıkarlar.
Derginizin uzun ömürlü olmasını dile-
menin ötesinde, gelişmesini umut ettiğim
Türk Denizcilik Endüstrisini uluslararası
boyutta tanıtımını sağlayacak saygın bir
yayın olmasını temenni ederim.

works without geopolitical interac-
tion and independent of country’s
inaction, they have the capacity for
continuous production of business and
services.
SeaNews: What do you think about
the coaster tonnage issues?
Capt. Bülent Dandin:
I think, what
I said just a moment ago illustrates how
much inappropriate it is to ask for a
coaster tonnage re-creation. One should
ask; “Has there been a coaster tonnage
lose despite an existing demand in the
market?”
Conversely, Adam Smith answered
this question 200 years ago (supply &
demand) and I just added it “geopoli-
tics” because economy is not an exact
science, but it is fed by exact science.
You can get exact outputs from
Science of Statistics, for instance; you
could analyze the coastal freight move-
ments for last 10 years and provide an
exact input to economy; thus, we can
see why the coasters are becoming
extinct. Speaking out without mak-
ing this observation is, with classical
saying, demagogy, and with football
jargon, it is “grandstand play”.
Moreover, the Chamber of
Shipping’s managers and candidates for
Presidency for just-held elections ironi-
cally investing in Panamax, Aframax
and Supramax ships while they cry for
coaster tonnage.
SeaNews: While you mentioned
the Chamber of Shipping elections;
how would you comment about
the results? Mr. Metin Kalkavan
re-elected and Mr. Salih Zeki Çakır
lost by a small margin of difference,
%45 against %55?
Capt. Bülent Dandin:
Results clear-
ly indicated that the bourgeois at the
chair was more stronger and more orga-
nized than the bourgeois who wanted to
take over. Both sides performed a very
high-line, good propaganda period. Mr.
Salih Zeki Cakir and his team created
a very positive awareness which will
serve good for entire marine industry as
well as for current management.
It will serve to current management
by preventing them to evolve to aris-
tocracy. For this reason, I believe now
there will be a Chamber of Shipping
which is more participatory, more col-
laborative, more productive and more
loyal to members.
The lesson gained from this election
which could be an example to all institu-
tions in Turkey was; it emphasized the
race for service instead of polarization,
it increased the sensitivity to the interests
of the country, and the excitement and
enthusiasm that shown is very important.
Therefore, I would like to express my
gratitude to both sides for that spirit.
SeaNews: Lastly, how would you
comment on the current market situ-
ation?
Capt. Bülent Dandin:
Markets works
on the equation of ‘’Supply, demand, and
the geopolitical balance of power”, which
is, a cubic equation with three unko-
nowns. X + Y + Z = 0, is cubic equation;
once X is known you can estimate Y and
Z; but when X and Y is known, one can
imagine that it is solved. But, you can not
solve the problem without Z!
My equation can be more expliable
with the story of an atheist.
Ione day, a priest, in his preach, makes
a description of Jesus, saying;;
‘He is not in heaven
He is not on earth,
He is not on the left,
He is not on the right..’
The intention of Priest is to end this
sequence by saying ‘He is everywhere’,
but, before he can do that, amongst the
audience, an atheist can not stand to say:
‘’Reverend, I think you will end up saying
He does not exist at all!’
My example is as such, apparently, I
do not know, what to do is, saying “God!
Give me patience!’ and continue as our
leaders say ‘do not stop, keep moving’’ (!)
SeaNews: Bülent Bey, thank you very
much for taking the time to our inter-
view. Finally, Do you have anything
to add?
Capt. Bülent Dandin:
Finally, I would
like to say: Structures such as Shipowners
run by fundamental family owned compa-
nies having an episodic memory will get
through this period; but I cannot say the
same for investor shipowners who came
to this sector for speculative purposes. I
think they will leave the sector at the earli-
est opportunity.
As a new magazine, I wish SeaNews
long life and beyond this, I hope yours
will be a reputable publication that pro-
motes Turkish Maritime industry inter-
nationally, which I wish a quick recovery
and development.
