On Oct 6, 2018, at 6.40 p.m. a passenger aboard the 'Frisia IX' fell ill. The 79 year old woman had suffered a stroke enroute from Norrdeich to Juist. A doctor on board was able to provide first aid. The lifeboat 'Hans Dittmer' of the DGzRS station Juist took a medical team on board and headed towards the ferry. They went alongside and disembarked the medicals. A few minutes later the patient was transferred onto the lifeboat and taken to Norddeich, where an ambulance was waiting for the further transport to hospital.
