MANILA's International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) has signed an agreement to sell 25 per cent stake of its container terminal in Nigeria, Lekki International Container Terminal Services LFTZ Enterprise (LICTSLE) to CMA Terminals, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CMA CGM.
Earlier in 2013, ICTSI signed a sub-concession agreement to run a container terminal in Nigeria's Lagos Free Trade Zone, designed to exceed 2.5 million TEU a year.
The terminal at Lekki, 60 kilometres east of Lagos, will be capable of accommodating 10,000 TEU vessels with its 1.2 kilometre quay, supported by handling equipment of at least 14 super-postpanamax STS cranes and terminal software.
LICTSLE will aim to provide coverage to the West/Central African shipping market and become its key transshipment hub.
