Maltese-flagged ship named Vitaspirit, hit the historic Hekimbaşı Salih Efendi Mansion on April 7th. In the accident where no one was killed or wounded, mansion suffered great damage in the kitchen. In order to meet the material damage, the court ordered a $ 50 million preliminary seizure on the request of the owners of the mansion and the Coastal Safety started an executive order for the payment of USD 5 million 231 thousandwhich was determined as the salvage dues for the towage of the vessel from Ahırkapı.
Approximately 3 months together with the staff of the ship in Marmara Sea, the owner of the ship signed a protocol with other parties. According to the protocol, the shipowner undertook the restoration of the historical mansion, while a $ 50 million preliminary seizure bond was deposited and the seizure on the ship was removed.
Ship's salvage service payment of $ 5 million to the Coastal Safety Administration was also guaranteed.
