The two Korean longliners '101 Kumyang' and 'No. 803 Tongyoung' collided in the morning of July 26, 2018, about 270 miles southeast of the southeastern tip of Hokkaido, Japan. The '101 Kumyang' sank. Out of the 38 crew members on board, including seven Koreans, 18 Indonesians, seven Vietnamese and six Filipino, 35 were rescued, three more went missing. An SAR operation was launched, coordinated by the Japan Coast Guard.
