The 'European Express', which was being anchored in front of a shipyard in Perama since Aug 17, 2016, suffered water ingress on Apr 4, 2018, which caused a slight list to starboard side. Two patrol boats and an antipollution vessel were deployed, and the Piraeus Port Authority sent a crew which boarded the ship and detected the leak at the engine room which could be sealed. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the Port Terminal Division of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, while the incident did not cause marine pollution. At the same time, the PPA announced the fourth tender for sale and removal of the 'European Express' from the area with an expiry date of 26 April.
