Marseille Fos' up 7pc to hit record high in 2014 of 1,174,000 TEU
THE French port of Marseille Fos recorded record high container volumes last year, despite a two per cent decline in overall cargo since 2013.
Container throughput reached 1,174,000 TEU, up seven per cent from the previous record of 1,097,740 TEU set in 2013.
Total cargo throughput at the French port dropped to 78.45 million tonnes, due mainly to an on-going fall in oil volumes stemming from the restructuring of Europe's refinery industry, according to a statement from port authorities, reported American Shipper.
