THE Hong Kong Marine Department posted a 7.9 per cent drop in container throughput at the port in July to 1.64 million TEU, the seventh straight month of decline since January.
The main Kwai Tsing terminals's volume fell 8.1 per cent to 1.29 million TEU while the other container handling facilities in the harbour handled 350,000 TEU, down 6.9 per cent from in July 2017.
Year-to-date throughput slipped 4.4 per cent to 11.50 million TEU. Cumulative volume at Kwai Tsing was down 4.2 per cent to to 9.05 million TEU as of August 1.
