THE geared 449-TEU Jamila collided with the fishing trawler Senor de la Misericordia. Three are reported dead.
The fishing boat left the Peruvian port of Paita without authorisation with an unknown number of people aboard, reported Kiev's Maritime Bulletin, which specialises in tracking marine casualties.
The Jamila was en route from Callao to Paita, Peru when the collision occurred.
Container ship Jamila, IMO 9477359, dwt 17,152, capacity 1350 TEU, built 2010, flag Liberia, manager Ernst Russ Reederei GmbH & Co. KG.
According to containership-info.com the ship was built by the Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in Fujian province opposite Taiwan and was operated by MOL, the Japanese shipping giant.
