GREECE-HEADQUARTERED and NASDAQ-listed Euroseas LTD has arranged time charters for two of its feeder container vessels, EM Athens and Manolis P.
The 2,506 TEU EM Athens has been fixed on a one-year time charter at a rate of US$10,400 per day, while 1,452 TEU Manolis P has extended its current charter contract for about a year at $9,500 per day.
Euroseas did not reveal the clients for the charters which started a few days ago, reports Singapore's Splash 247.
Chairman and CEO of Euroseas, Aristides Pittas, commented: 'These charters are roughly 30 per cent higher than what the ships earned prior and is a clear sign that the sector is recovering. We have positioned our container fleet to take advantage of this anticipated rising market and, currently, have 6 more vessels that come up for renewal of their charters within the following 3 months. We remain optimistic for the containership market prospects and are actively seeking to grow the company and enhance shareholder value.'
Euroseas has a fleet of 17 vessels, made up of 6 dry bulk vessels and 11 containerships.
