Third quarter revenues grew by 6.1 per cent year on year to reach $1.8 billion, London's Air Cargo News reported.
"The main drivers of the difference [in losses] are the improvement in operating income and the positive impact of unrealised foreign exchange gain," CEVA said.
Over the first nine months of the year, losses amounted to $124 million, widening the gap with the $72 million loss recorded over the same period in 2016.
The forwarder's air freight volumes in the third quarter rose by 11.8 per cent against market growth of 10 per cent.
The company pointed out that market volatility in air freight rates continues, especially on routes out of Asia. However, it had mitigated that pressure "to a large extent" through volume planning and pricing measures.
Commenting on the results, CEVA chief executive Xavier Urbain said: "We have been able to offset ongoing market volatility in air and ocean freight. Our procurement and pricing strategy has enabled us to protect yields sequentially.
"Contract logistics continues to grow and delivers improved results through focused action on contracts. CEVA is on track to deliver a stronger result in 2017."
